About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced WordPress Developer with a strong understanding of the Pantheon hosting environment, Docksal local development setup, and Microsoft Azure integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing WordPress websites that are scalable, secure, and performance-driven.
You will collaborate closely with designers, backend developers, and project managers to deliver seamless digital experiences using WordPress as the core CMS platform.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins.
● Set up and manage Pantheon hosting environments (Dev, Test, Live).
● Configure and maintain local development environments using Docksal.
● Deploy and manage WordPress projects integrated with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure Storage, Azure CDN, or Azure Web Apps).
● Optimize websites for performance, scalability, SEO, and accessibility.
● Integrate APIs and external services using REST or GraphQL.
● Troubleshoot and debug performance, compatibility, and deployment issues.
● Implement and maintain automated workflows for deployment and CI/CD.
● Collaborate with designers and UX teams to implement responsive layouts and interactive features.
● Ensure website security, backup, and recovery processes.
Key Requirements:
● 3+ years of hands-on experience in WordPress development (custom themes and plugins).
● Proficiency in:
○ PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and jQuery
○ Git and version control best practices
○ REST API integration and JSON data handling
● Experience with:
○ Pantheon hosting platform – site management, workflow setup, and multidev environments
○ Docksal – local Docker-based WordPress development setup
○ Microsoft Azure – web app deployment, CDN, storage, or cloud service integration
● Familiarity with WordPress architecture, WP-CLI, and Gutenberg block development.
● Strong understanding of performance optimization, security hardening, and SEO best practices.
● Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.
● Ability to configure and manage staging and production workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with WooCommerce, ACF, and Custom Post Types.
● Understanding of Drupal-to-WordPress migrations or multisite management.
● Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
● Experience using Docker, GitHub Actions, or Bitbucket Pipelines.
● Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.
