Job Description

Project Role : Operations Engineer

Project Role Description : Support the operations and/or manage delivery for production systems and services based on operational requirements and service agreement.

Must have skills : VMware TKG Tanzu Kubernetes Grid

Minimum 5 year(s) of experience is required

Educational Qualification : 15 years full time education

Must have skills: VMware vSphere Suite, VMWare Aria Suite, Disaster Recovery, Hyper-V

Good to have skills: VMware Tanzu, Windows Server Adminstration, Hardware Management (Cisco UCS, Dell etc), Hyperconverged Infrastructure (VXRail, Nutanix etc), good understanding of Physical Data Center, Storage, Backup, Network and Scripting.

Roles and responsibility:

(CL 9 Required 6 -10 years of relevant experience.)

  • Candidate should have hands on experience in handling of Hyper-V & VMware Operational Support activities end to end.
  • Candidates play a critical role in providing advanced technical assistance and support for Hyper-V and VMware infrastructure-related issues. He/She is responsible for resolving complex incidents, troubleshooting escalated problems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability and efficiency of the organization's Hyper-V and VMware environments.
  • Candidate must be good in preparing technical documentations like RCA reports, SOP & KB Articles
  • Prepare and execute the critical infrastructure change plan.
  • Streamlining the vSphere patching/upgrade and hardware firmware upgrade activities
  • Identify and apply the Automation solution for the daily /repeated activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management, and external partners.
  • Ability to handle P1 & P2 situations in Operations by providing guidance to technical teams
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Hyper-V and VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles relevant to Hyper-V and VMware environments.
  • Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting techniques like log analysis, and performance monitoring.
  • Candidates should have experience of Incident mgmt., Change mgmt. & Problem management for RCA
  • Take ownership of escalated incidents, conducting thorough root cause analysis and implementing effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex Hyper-V and VMware infrastructure-related incidents.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Hyper-V and VMware technologies, offering guidance and assistance to support teams.
  • Investigate and resolve escalated incidents within defined service level agreements (SLAs), utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques and tools.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize the capacity in environment and maintain records for hardware warranty/Support contract expiry.
  • Candidate should have relevant certifications in technical skills.
  • Ability to handle and negotiate the discussions between team members, Customers & External vendors.
  • Ability to handle the different situations during the operational issues and requests.
  • Develop and enforce patch management policies and schedules.
  • Automation and Scripting:
  • Develop PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and streamline administrative processes.
  • Implement automation solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Maintain and update existing scripts to adapt to changing requirements
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization:
  • Implement best practices for server performance tuning and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments and recommend improvement.
  • Windows Server Administration:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Maintain and Troubleshoot Server roles and features.
  • Ensure server availability and performance through monitoring and proactive maintenance.
  • Patch Management:
  • Develop and enforce patch management policies and schedules for Hyper-V and VMWare Infrastructure.
  • Ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities, security updates and patches.
