VB6 Developer

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze Legacy applications written in ASP classic/ VB6 application, MS SQL that needs to be migrated to Java Platform
• 'Read code' and 'pen down' the Business logic accordingly.
• Providing initial estimates in terms of time and efforts required to migrate the application.
• Interact with business partners to 'know' application in detail.
• Create re-engineering requirements document which will be used by Development team to design and develop application in Java platform.
• Go to person for Development and Testing team members on application understanding.
• Solve complex problems in a highly dynamic environment.
• Identify risk and issues while re-engineering of application – highlight to project team in advance.
• Having strong focus on suggesting opportunities for code reusability
• Design or demonstrate existing application workflow/ system architecture/3rd party applications.

Key experience:

• A Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• A minimum of 6 to 8 years of working experience with VB6 full application development life cycle and systems integration experience.
• Design & Development experience using VB6 and related technologies.
• Strong analytical skills to understand existing business model and application standards.
• Sound knowledge of Active components like COM/OCX, registry settings

Good to have skills: 

• JIRA, TFS, C++ language, .NET, .DB2, MVP/MVC architecture.
• Experience with change management processes
• Clear understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, estimation, and defect management.
• Commitment to Quality and code/design review.
• Knowledge of the financial and insurance industries
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills to work effectively in a changing environment balancing operations and project delivery.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner.
• Ability to work in Agile environment.
