Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Duties

  • Deliver lectures and tutorials on:
  • Anatomy and physiology of the genitourinary system
  • Urological disorders (e.g., BPH, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, cancers)
  • Urological surgeries (TURP, PCNL, ureteroscopy, cystoscopy, etc.)
  • Male reproductive health and andrology
  • Urological emergencies and trauma
  • Conduct case-based learning, clinical skill demonstrations, and bedside teaching.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects and dissertations.
  • Develop course materials, assessments, and interactive teaching modules.

Clinical Duties (for institutions with hospital affiliation)

  • Participate in outpatient and inpatient urology services.
  • Supervise urological procedures and surgeries for teaching purposes.
  • Mentor students and junior residents in operation theatres, clinics, and wards.
  • Support interdisciplinary teaching involving nephrology, oncology, radiology, and pathology.

Research & Publications

  • Engage in clinical or translational research related to:
  • Uro-oncology, minimally invasive surgery, urolithiasis, male infertility, etc.
  • Outcomes of surgical interventions or new surgical technologies
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences.
  • Mentor students in clinical audits and original research projects.

Administrative Roles

  • Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.
  • Serve on examination, ethics, or curriculum committees.
  • Help organize workshops, CME programs, and surgical skills labs.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS with MS (General Surgery) and MCh / DNB in Urology
  • Valid registration with medical council (as per country/state)

Desirable:

  • Teaching experience in medical education
  • Research publications in indexed journals
  • Experience with laparoscopic or robotic urological surgery (for higher posts)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of urological anatomy, pathology, and clinical management
  • Surgical teaching skills and ability to mentor students and residents
  • Research aptitude with familiarity in clinical trial design or audit
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with digital tools (LMS, surgical simulation platforms, etc.)
