Job Description
We are seeking a proactive Technical Engineer - Firestop to join our team. This role, also known as an Engineering Judgement Engineer, is responsible for creating technically sound and compliant solutions for firestop applications. The ideal candidate will use their expertise to prepare accurate engineering judgment drawings, analyze site conditions, and collaborate with global teams to ensure the highest standards of fire safety.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate Engineering Judgement (EJ) sketches with technical details by referencing relevant UL and Intertek Certificates.
- Provide technically appropriate and engineered firestop solutions without compromising on fire safety.
- Support the FPC Team and Engineering Specification Consultants with tested systems and engineering judgments.
- Conduct an assessment of the most appropriate UL and Intertek documents after a site survey.
- Answer queries related to tested systems in conjunction with the Firestop Product Manager.
- Coordinate with Global Engineering Judgement teams for approval on unique cases that require expert advice.
- Prepare accurate and compliant judgments for specific firestop applications, exceeding standard criteria in certificates.
- Utilize details from UL Certificates to cross-check AutoCAD drawings, make necessary changes, and create the final EJ document.
- Ensure proper documentation and explanation for each individual EJ.
- Actively learn and maintain Hilti standards for the highest quality and compliance of EJs.
- Provide extensive training on tested systems to internal and external customers.
- Ensure a business sense for the engineering judgments provided to Account Managers and FPCs.
Skills Required
- Engineering Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering.
- Experience in Firestop Applications or Specifications.
- Basic to medium competence in AutoCAD 2D.
- Fluent in English.
- Knowledge of Firestop codes and standards such as NBC, IS, IBC, and NFPA.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Navisworks and Revit is a plus.
- A structural, piping, MEP, or Civil engineering background.
- Good understanding of Firestop Applications as per ASTM/UL/Intertek.
- A good understanding of MEP/Interiors/Concrete Structures applications.
- The ability to understand the correlation between compliant engineering judgments and creating a strong market differentiation.
