Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Supervision
- Oversee and coordinate all dispensing activities in the OPD pharmacy.
- Ensure accurate and timely dispensing of prescribed medications.
- Monitor prescription audits, billing, and patient counselling processes.
- Manage pharmacy scheduling, shift coverage, and workflow efficiency.
2. Inventory & Stock Management
- Supervise stock levels, reorder cycles, and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature/humidity) for sensitive medications.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and coordinate with central stores or vendors.
3. Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Drug and Cosmetics Act, NABH, and internal pharmacy protocols.
- Monitor expiry management and ensure prompt removal of expired/near-expiry drugs.
- Maintain accurate documentation for drug receipts, issues, and narcotic drug handling.
4. Team Leadership & Training
- Train and mentor pharmacists, interns, and assistants on SOPs, drug knowledge, and safety.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations and feedback sessions.
- Resolve team conflicts and promote a collaborative work culture.
5. Patient Interaction & Service
- Address patient queries related to prescriptions, dosages, and drug interactions.
- Ensure privacy, safety, and courteous service to all patients.
- Escalate issues to clinical or administrative teams when necessary.
6. Technology & Reporting
- Ensure proper use of pharmacy software/ERP system for dispensing and reporting.
- Generate and submit daily/weekly reports on pharmacy performance, billing, and consumption.
- Assist with data required for audits, compliance inspections, and quality initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Requirement:
- D. Pharm / B. Pharm (M. Pharm preferred) from a recognized institution
- Valid Pharmacy Council registration (State or PCI)
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience in pharmacy operations
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and prescription safety
- Inventory and supply chain management skills
- Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and billing software
- Leadership and staff management abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance
