Job Description

A Hotel Steward ensures cleanliness, organization, and smooth operations in dining/kitchen areas by washing dishes, sanitizing, setting tables, restocking supplies, assisting kitchen staff, and providing basic customer service like refilling drinks or seating guests, acting as a crucial support role for efficient service. Key duties involve maintaining hygiene standards, managing inventory of service ware, supporting servers, and ensuring all guest-facing areas are pristine for a great dining experience. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Hygiene & Sanitation: Washing dishes, utensils, equipment; sanitizing tables and surfaces; monitoring health and safety.
  • Dining Area Setup: Setting tables, polishing glassware, laying cutlery, stocking side stations, guiding guests.
  • Kitchen Support: Assisting chefs with basic prep, unloading stock, waste disposal, organizing kitchen.
  • Customer Service: Clearing tables, refilling drinks, assisting guests, potentially taking orders or seating.
  • Inventory: Monitoring and reporting shortages of cutlery, crockery, linens, and supplies. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Attention to Detail: For hygiene and setup.
  • Teamwork: Working effectively with kitchen and service staff.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, carry, and stand for long periods.
  • Communication: Clear interaction with guests and colleagues.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and hygiene protocols.
