Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse / Senior Staff Nurse to join our Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) team. The ideal candidate will be a critical part of the obstetrics team, providing specialized care to new mothers and neonates. This role requires extensive knowledge of childbirth procedures, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to act swiftly and calmly during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Preparation:
- Assist in preparing the LDR room for scheduled patients, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are available.
- Prepare patients for delivery and ensure all investigation reports are available for the doctor's review.
- Provide comprehensive assistance during normal deliveries.
- Assist clinicians with tasks such as medication administration, labor induction, and fetal heart rate monitoring.
- Assist with obstetric emergencies and provide efficient care to both new mothers and neonates.
- Procedural Assistance & Knowledge:
- Assist with various procedures, including PV Examination, Pap Smears, Epidural Analgesia, and Blood Sampling, ensuring all equipment is properly set up.
- Be knowledgeable about gestational age assessment and the specific problems of premature and other high-risk neonates.
- Possess knowledge of Cardio Toco Graph (CTG) monitoring and APGAR scoring.
- Assist in medical termination of pregnancy (MTP), coordinating the disposal of the fetus as per PCPNDT guidelines.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Complete the pre-operative checklist before a patient is transferred to the operation theatre.
- Strictly adhere to infection control practices, including hand-washing techniques and maintaining the hygiene of personnel, equipment, and the environment.
- Handle waste segregation and disposal as per policy.
- Be aware of and implement protocols related to medications, narcotic policy, and personal valuables.
- Be aware of and implement NABH & Nursing Excellence standards.
Educational Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A valid State Registration Nursing Council Certificate is mandatory.
Required Skills
- Obstetric & Neonatal Expertise: Strong knowledge of labor, delivery, and neonatal care, including the ability to manage obstetric emergencies.
- Procedural Skills: Competence in assisting with a range of obstetrics and gynecology procedures.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in preparing for procedures, handling documentation, and managing medications and equipment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, doctors, and the nursing team.
- Calm Under Pressure: The ability to handle high-stakes situations and make quick, informed decisions.
