SRE Linux Engineer

Basic Purpose:

• Responsible for design, implementation and operational support of the technical infrastructure for strategic Broadridge applications and services
• Designs technical solutions and automated operational processes for the next generation Broadridge platforms for automation, availability, performance, scale and cost.
• Ensure the continuous health and reliability of the technical infrastructure, and the applications/services it supports, through Service Level Objectives (SLOs), metrics/Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and continuous Operational process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and AIX servers across multiple data centers.
• Develop and automate scripts for OS in-place upgrades on RHEL servers.
• Create and execute scripts to test and validate in-place upgrades for RHEL servers.
• Author comprehensive documentation and train team members on upgrade procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide support for end-of-life projects.
• Support Red Hat Enterprise Linux and AIX servers across multi data centers.
• Automate and create the scripts for OS in-place upgrade for RHEL servers.
• Create scripts to test and validate the in-place upgrade for RHEL servers.
• Create documentation and train the rest of team in performing upgrades.
• Collaborate with various teams in requirement gathering and support for the end of life projects.
• Works within and across teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies.
• Ensures technical & security best practices along with Broadridge standards are adhered to in the design of technical infrastructure
• Participates in technical design sessions and works closely with multiple teams, including application development teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and clients, if needed, to review the infrastructure designs for new projects.
• Delivers high quality technical infrastructure, on-time, following Broadridge processes.
• Automates the implementation and operational support of the infrastructure.
• Participates in technical implementation to ensure the quality of the infrastructure, automation and the overall productivity of the SRE (Service Reliability Engineering) team.
• Troubleshoots production issues affecting Broadridge services as needed, taking appropriate corrective actions.
• Collaborates with peers and other technical teams, such as development teams, architecture, database teams, storage teams, server teams, security teams to prevent and shorten production incidents.

Skills/Competencies:

• 6+ years of experience with commercial service infrastructure at both a software and infrastructure level
• Functional skills – System Design and Architecture, DevOps / Deployment automation, Troubleshooting, Service Monitoring.

• Strong written and communications skills for collaboration with various teams and upper management
• Solid analytical skills, especially in area of translating business requirements into technical design – with a continuous focus on aligning technical roadmap with the immediate and long-term Business strategy

• Knowledge of next-generation design patterns/architecture like micro-services, layered pattern, cloud.
• Strong aptitude for learning new skills and new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or in a related field.
• 4-5+ years of experience within a programming and application system environment, with solid experience and a working knowledge in the following technologies:
• OS: Expert in Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL), AIX
• Automation: Ansible/Balade logic
• Cloud: AWS
• Scripting: Perl, Shell Scripts, Python, Batch
