Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Power BI Report and Dashboard Development:
  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to meet business needs.
  • Utilize DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create complex calculated columns, measures, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Implement Power Query to transform and clean data from multiple sources.
  • Optimize reports and dashboards for better performance, especially when dealing with large datasets.
  1. Data Modeling & Integration:
  • Create and manage complex data models in Power BI, connecting to a variety of data sources (SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, cloud services, APIs, etc.).
  • Design efficient data models for analysis, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Integrate and transform data from multiple sources into a single, unified data model.
  1. Collaboration and Requirements Gathering:
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and other teams to gather and understand reporting requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and develop solutions that meet both business and data governance needs.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure the availability and quality of data for reporting.
  1. Data Analysis & Advanced Visualizations:
  • Use Power BI's advanced features (like Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, etc.) to implement custom visuals, real-time dashboards, and data analysis.
  • Leverage Power BI's AI capabilities for advanced analytics and recommendations.
  1. Performance Tuning & Optimization:
  • Analyze and improve the performance of Power BI reports by optimizing data models, queries, and visualizations.
  • Work with large datasets and ensure efficient query execution and data retrieval.
  • Optimize DAX expressions and data models to ensure reports load and refresh in a timely manner.
  1. Deployment & Maintenance:
  • Develop deployment strategies for Power BI solutions and manage the lifecycle of reports and dashboards.
  • Implement and maintain data security measures such as role-based security and data access control.
  • Automate report refresh processes and integrate Power BI with other Microsoft tools like Azure, SQL Server, and SharePoint.
  1. Documentation and Training:
  • Maintain clear documentation for Power BI reports, models, and dashboards.
  • Provide training and guidance to business users on how to use Power BI reports and self-service analytics.
  • Stay up-to-date with new Power BI features and best practices, ensuring reports and dashboards are developed with the latest techniques and technologies.

Skills and Qualifications:

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Power BI development, including report creation, DAX expressions, data modeling, and visualization best practices.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, data transformations, and query optimization.
  • Extensive experience with Power Query to transform, clean, and load data from various sources into Power BI.
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to create complex calculations and KPIs.
  • Familiarity with Power BI Service, Power BI Report Server, and integration of Power BI with other tools like Azure, SQL Server, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and building scalable, efficient data models.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and optimize Power BI reports for performance.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory.
  • Knowledge of data security practices, including role-based security and managing data access in Power BI.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data sources and integrating them into Power BI.
  • Exposure to other BI tools such as Tableau, QlikView, or SAP BusinessObjects is a plus.
