Service Engineer

This role is for a Service Engineer at an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Manufacturing Company. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical professional responsible for the entire lifecycle of EV chargers, from installation and commissioning to maintenance and troubleshooting. This position requires a strong commitment to service quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance

• Installation & Setup: Carry out the physical installation of AC & DC EV chargers. Handle all electrical terminations and ensure proper earthing, cable routing, and MCB/MCCB connections.
• Commissioning: Power on the charger, verify all readings, and configure parameters as per CMS/network instructions. Verify communication with backend systems (OCPP, SIM config, etc.).
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance checks, inspect all components, and proactively log observations and report on them.
• Corrective Maintenance: Attend breakdown calls for on-site support. Diagnose issues using a multimeter and test software, and replace faulty components or modules as needed.

Documentation & Reporting

• Submit detailed installation/service reports with photos and checklists.
• Accurately record part usage, downtime, and work completed.
• Maintain a tracker for issues identified, resolutions, and SLA adherence.

Customer Interaction & Safety

• Customer Interaction: Explain the cause and resolution of faults to the site in-charge or customer. Provide training on charger usage and safety basics.
• Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols, including PPE usage and lockout/tagout procedures. Proactively report unsafe practices and ensure all installations comply with safety norms.
• SLA Adherence: Ensure all service calls and tasks are completed within the 12hr/24hr service SLAs.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of EV chargers or similar electrical equipment.
• Strong skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and firmware updates.
• Familiarity with electrical systems, safety procedures, and tools like a multimeter.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving.
