Senior Virtualization Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise virtualization infrastructure, primarily using VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
• Administer and optimize virtualized environments to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Lead infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new environment builds.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for virtual environments.
• Monitor system performance, resolve hardware/software issues, and ensure proactive system health management.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, vSphere CLI, or other scripting tools.
• Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies.
• Work with storage, network, and security teams to integrate and secure virtual platforms.
• Provide escalation support for complex virtualization and infrastructure issues.
• Stay up to date with virtualization trends and recommend continuous improvements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in virtualization engineering or system administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter (required).
• Proficient with VMware vMotion, DRS, HA, and vSAN.
• Experience with Hyper-V, Nutanix, or KVM is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux OS administration.
• Solid understanding of storage systems (SAN/NAS), networking basics, and backup technologies.
• Scripting skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Desirable Skills and Certifications:

• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid virtualization models.
• Familiarity with VMware NSX, vRealize Operations, or VMware Horizon.
• Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical projects.
