Senior Systems Engineer
Job Description
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Medtronic, you will be a pivotal contributor to the Systems Integration organization. This role focuses on the definition, design, and development of complex medical device systems for central nervous system conditions, integrating advanced electronics, wireless communication, batteries, and both consumer and medical technologies. You will ensure innovative, user-centric solutions from design to verification, supporting both New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining phases for our Global Business Units (GBUs).
A Day in the Life
You will drive the creation of high-quality medical device systems by:
- Creating, analyzing, and documenting System Requirements Specifications.
- Investigating and resolving product/system issues, implementing improvements.
- Developing product/system testing capabilities to evaluate performance across various use cases.
- Supporting system-level leaders to ensure comprehensive coverage and confirm system behavior meets requirements and user needs.
- Holding accountability for product-related requirements.
- Championing best practices and advanced testing techniques for efficient, full test coverage.
- Reviewing requirements for implantable medical device systems for testability and completeness, meeting customer and regulatory expectations.
- Translating customer needs, use cases, and user workflows into specific requirements, design features, and integration test cases.
- Participating in technical architecture activities for system definition, including partitioning, performance measures, and interface definition.
- Performing/participating in Risk Analysis activities (e.g., FMEA, Hazard Analysis) to eliminate or mitigate identified risks.
- Identifying, investigating, and resolving product issues.
- Reviewing technical literature and manuals.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with 6+ years of technical engineering professional experience, or a Master's degree in an Engineering discipline with 4+ years of technical engineering professional experience.
- 2+ years of Systems/Product development experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication and influence management skills.
- Ability to accomplish critical project-level objectives in a team environment.
- Knowledge in System Engineering discipline or use of system engineering methodologies.
