Job Description
- Create and modify detailed drawings using CAD and QGIS based on sketches, layouts, or field engineering notes
- Support high-level design for product manufacturing and quality improvement
- Verify drawing accuracy and compliance with project standards
- Work with engineers to ensure model precision, industry-standard drafting, and system file management
- Proficient in AutoCAD and GIS, with strong layering and drafting fundamentals
- Understanding of Outside Plant (OSP) telecom design: conduit, cables, fiber optics, manholes, hand holes, poles (aerial/underground)
- Assist with planning and analysis of OSP network structures and facility construction
- Familiar with right-of-way, easements, and other underground and aerial utility infrastructure
- Knowledge of permitting: city/county/state regulations, encroachment permits, traffic control, and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans)
- Interact with municipalities, Telco engineers, and field forces to obtain OSP records and maps
- Conduct site surveys and convert field notes into AutoCAD conduit/cable engineering designs
- Experience with NDS and AutoCAD required; QGIS and GPON/FlexNAP experience preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, conduit prints, floor plans, and permit drawings
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and multitasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented; capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods, occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs), good vision and hearing required
