Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead development of a Ruby on Rails-based application, including APIs and front-end components, built using PostgreSQL, Jbuilder, Hotwire, Haml, Sass, and more.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers to meet and exceed customer needs in the simplest possible ways.
• Design and maintain B2B APIs and work with multiple 3rd party counterparts to support successful integration.
• Enforce clean code and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews, ensuring best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Review and groom User Stories with the product team to understand and clarify intent.
• Track and communicate delivery progress and risks to Product and other stakeholders.
• Provide production support for the deployed product.
• Actively contribute to or lead system architecture discussions and technical design reviews to ensure our security, reliability, and scalability requirements are met.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on customers and/or operations.
• Create and maintain documentation of code, architecture, and system configurations.
• Write automated tests to verify feature functionality.
• Influence, coach, and support other engineers on the team, with a strong focus on feedback and growth.
• Lead by example and elevate the design, implementation, quality, and strong engineering practices across the team.
• Own the architecture and design of new features including: database schema, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and scaling processes.
• Manage the entire tech stack running on AWS and provide cloud maintenance functions, including: custom AMI creation, resource provisioning and maintenance, cloud monitoring, and event handling.

What We're Looking For

• English fluency
• 8+ years of developer experience
• 5+ years hands-on developing with Ruby on Rails
• 5+ years experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL (preferably both)
• Possess a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles
• Previous experience leading a team of 5 or more developers
• Fluency in Git and AWS services, including: S3, RDS, EC2, and Elastic Beanstalk
• Demonstrated experience designing B2B APIs
• Critical thinker and problem solver
• Strong team player in a collaborative environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Demonstrated Hotwire (Turbo / Stimulus) experience
• Have built and maintained CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, or similar
• X12 EDI or LIMRA (LDEx) experience
• Experience working with US Healthcare system, or an InsurTech company
• Ruby gem development or related open source contributions
