Job Description

Overview:

Aster Medcity is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident in Haemato-Oncology to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing specialized clinical care for patients with hematological malignancies and related conditions, while also participating in research and collaborative multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care & Evaluation:
  • Provide specialized care to patients with hematologic disorders, including detailed assessments, diagnosis, and participation in formulating individualized treatment plans under the guidance of senior consultants.
  • Treatment Monitoring:
  • Monitor patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other targeted treatments, managing side effects and modifying care protocols to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Transplant Management:
  • Actively participate in the care of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplant monitoring.
  • Supportive Care:
  • Assist with the administration and monitoring of blood and platelet transfusions and other supportive measures.
  • Patient Communication:
  • Provide empathetic, clear communication to patients and families regarding treatment plans, potential side effects, and prognosis.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Work closely with consultants, nurses, laboratory technicians, and pharmacists to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Education & Training:
  • Participate in departmental rounds, journal clubs, clinical case discussions, and continuing education to develop expertise in Haemato-Oncology.
  • Research & Quality Improvement:
  • Engage in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to support innovation and excellence in patient care.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate, timely medical records and ensure compliance with institutional protocols, safety standards, and infection control policies.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution
  • Postgraduate training (MD/DNB) in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or related specialties (preferred)
  • Interest in and/or experience with hematologic malignancies and bone marrow transplantation
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
