Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Refractory and Insulation Work Supervision

  • Supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of refractory linings in furnaces, boilers, kilns, and industrial equipment.
  • Oversee the execution of hot and cold insulation works for pipelines, equipment, and structures.
  • Ensure proper in-situ casting of cold insulation according to project requirements.
  • Verify selection and application of refractory materials such as fire bricks, castables, ceramic fiber, and insulating concretes.

Team Management and Coordination

  • Assign tasks and oversee the performance of refractory and insulation teams.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and site managers to meet deadlines.
  • Train workers on installation techniques and safety practices.

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Inspect refractory and insulation works to ensure high standards of workmanship.
  • Identify defects or failures and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and industry codes such as ASTM, API, ISO, and BS.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Enforce safety protocols during refractory, insulation, and in-situ casting operations.
  • Ensure proper PPE usage and safety compliance during high-risk activities.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain records of materials, manpower, and project progress.
  • Prepare and submit daily or weekly work reports to project management.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers and clients regarding progress and issues.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in refractory works, hot and cold insulation, and in-situ casting of cold insulation.
  • Preferably from oil & gas, petrochemical, power plant, or industrial project backgrounds.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Hands-on experience with refractory materials (fire bricks, castables, ceramic fibers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of insulation materials (PIR, PUR, rock wool, cellular glass, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret refractory and insulation drawings.
  • Familiarity with thermal performance calculations and refractory testing procedures.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Effective communication for coordination with teams and management.
