Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Trial Mix Support:
- Support the trial mix for research and development purposes.
- Conduct weighing, flow/slump testing, cleaning of mixing tools, water permeability tests, rheology, RCPT, wash-out, etc.
- Application Technician Support:
- Assist the application technician in physical parameter testing of competitor samples and raw materials.
- Conduct field tests at the site as per the supervisor's instructions.
- Testing and Analysis:
- Test sands, cement, chemical materials, and finished goods (e.g., sieving, flow, strength).
- Carry out and compile laboratory test results (e.g., sieve analysis, water absorption, moisture content, specific gravity).
- Conduct marsh cone and other tests as required.
- Sample Maintenance:
- Maintain samples, testing apparatus, and tools for corrosion testing (e.g., ASTM G 109).
- Prepare stability samples and support the supervisor for sample observations.
- Cube Testing:
- Perform cube de-molding, cube cleaning, and cube testing in CTM.
- Update strength results in the trial sheet.
- Stock & Materials Management:
- Monitor raw material stock availability for conducting lab trials and ensure appropriate usage.
- Pick up raw materials from the production site.
- Maintain the storage areas for cements, sands, and materials.
- Ensure the availability and implementation of PPEs and essential tools.
- Housekeeping and Safety:
- Oversee the housekeeping of the acid, alkali cabinet, raw material storage, application, and lab areas.
- Maintain safety showers, eye wash stations, and fire hydrant water levels.
- Assist in the maintenance of the outdoor premises and main lab areas, including organizing aggregates and cementitious materials.
- Calibration and Equipment Maintenance:
- Support the supervisor in the calibration of equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and other equipment (e.g., DG operation, UPS, siren, ACs, lights).
- Vendor and Environmental Support:
- Provide support to third-party vendors for maintenance of major equipment (e.g., DG, UPS, fire safety equipment).
- Assist with third-party environmental testing.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth functioning of the R&D premises.
- Assist in MSEB, MTNL, TTC, and other work as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Graduate degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in product development within a chemical manufacturing company.
- Knowledge of construction chemicals, R&D, QC, and cement or concrete admixtures is preferred.
- Familiarity with analytical equipment handling.
- Basic computer knowledge.
