Key Responsibilities:

1. Research and Development:

  • Lead the R&D team in developing and testing new plastic formulations and recipes.
  • Conduct experiments to determine the feasibility, performance, and cost-effectiveness of new materials and additives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to source and evaluate new raw materials.

2. Cost Reduction:

  • Identify opportunities to reduce raw material costs through innovative recipes and efficient material usage.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with product specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze cost implications of new formulations and recommend adjustments to meet budgetary goals.

3. Process Optimization:

  • Optimize the injection molding process parameters to enhance productivity and reduce material wastage.
  • Work with the production team to implement process improvements and troubleshoot issues related to material usage.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of the molding processes to identify areas for improvement.

4. Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that all new formulations meet or exceed quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality control protocols for new materials and recipes.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to resolve any quality issues arising from material changes.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of all R&D activities, experiments, and results.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of R&D projects and cost reduction initiatives.

6. Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality / R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery of R&D objectives.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in plastic injection molding Quality / Operation / R&D, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in developing cost-effective plastic formulations and recipes.
  • Experience with various types of plastics and additives used in injection molding.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment focused on sustainability and recycling.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for plastic products.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
