Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Imaging & Interpretation
- Interpret a wide range of imaging studies including:
- X-rays, Ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, Mammography, DEXA, Fluoroscopy
- Prepare detailed and precise diagnostic reports with clinical correlation.
- Communicate urgent or unexpected findings to the treating physician promptly.
Interventional Radiology Procedures (if applicable)
- Perform or assist in minimally invasive procedures such as:
- FNAC, biopsies, drainages, image-guided catheter placements, etc.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and safety protocols during procedures.
Radiology Operations
- Ensure proper functioning of imaging equipment; report technical faults promptly.
- Coordinate with radiology technicians for scan planning, protocol adherence, and patient positioning.
- Ensure radiation safety for patients and staff; maintain dose logs and compliance with AERB guidelines.
Patient Care
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and obtain informed consent when required.
- Address patient concerns and provide post-procedure guidance, if necessary.
- Maintain privacy, empathy, and professionalism throughout patient interaction.
Academic & Teaching Duties (For Teaching Hospitals)
- Teach and supervise radiology residents, MBBS students, or technicians.
- Conduct case discussions, lectures, and radiology rounds.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment processes.
- Guide postgraduate thesis work and participate in research.
Research & Development
- Participate in clinical or imaging-related research projects.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals or present at conferences.
- Stay updated with advances in imaging technology and techniques.
Qualifications
Essential:
- MBBS + MD / DNB in Radiology / Radio-Diagnosis
- Valid registration with State or National Medical Council
Desirable:
- Fellowship in a sub-specialty: Neuro-Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Breast Imaging, etc.
- Experience in high-end imaging technologies (3T MRI, PET-CT, etc.)
- Teaching or academic experience (for faculty positions)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and observational skills
- Proficiency in interpreting cross-sectional and conventional imaging
- Skilled in using PACS, RIS, and hospital EMR systems
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to handle high-volume workloads with accuracy
- Commitment to patient safety and data confidentiality
