Job Summary

Siemens is seeking an experienced EHS Officer to join our team at installation and commissioning project sites across India. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) function at the site level, ensuring strict implementation of Siemens' EHS policies, and maintaining compliance with the Zero Harm Policy. This role requires a strong focus on safety standards and continuous improvement in health and safety practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

• EHS Standards Implementation:
• Implement EHS standards as per Siemens and contract requirements for the project, ensuring full compliance.
• Health & Safety Plans:
• Develop and implement health and safety plans in line with legal, customer, and organizational guidelines.
• EHS Management Systems:
• Implement and monitor EHS Management Systems based on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, in alignment with corporate and customer requirements.
• Hazard Identification & Control Measures:
• Participate in EHS core team meetings to identify workplace hazards across various work activities (Electrical work, hot work, civil work, confined space, etc.) and establish necessary control measures.
• EHS Training & Guidance:
• Provide guidance and train site personnel on EHS practices and safety protocols, ensuring awareness of safety standards.
• Contractor Evaluation & Performance Management:
• Manage contractor selection, evaluation, and performance on-site, including enforcing penalty and incentive systems.
• EHS Training Programs:
• Identify training needs and coordinate EHS training programs for personnel at various levels.
• Incident Management & Reporting:
• Conduct EHS assessments, identify unsafe acts/conditions, report near misses, and ensure prompt corrective and preventive actions.
• Incident Investigation:
• Investigate incidents and recommend corrective actions to the Project Manager and EHS Officers.
• PPE and Safety Equipment Management:
• Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the availability of necessary safety equipment on project sites.
• EHS Reporting & Coordination:
• Maintain EHS reporting and coordinate with internal and external partners on EHS-related matters.
• Risk & Compliance Evaluation:
• Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risks and compliance with EHS requirements.
• Collaboration for Employee Safety:
• Work with EU, project management, and site management to develop and implement strategies for improving employee safety and reducing risks.
• EHS Legal Compliance:
• Prepare and update the EHS legal register and stay informed on changes in EHS laws and regulations.
• Standards and Regulations Updates:
• Recommend changes to internal EHS standards based on updates in laws and regulations.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

• Experience:
• 7-10 years of experience in the construction industry. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in power plants, switchyards, switchgears, turbines, transformers, and Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP).
• Education:
• Full-time Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with an M.Tech in Industrial Safety or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) approved by the state technical board/RLI/CLI.
• Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with lean & agile methods.
• Willingness to travel and relocate across India based on project requirements.
