Principal Ai/ML Engineer, AI Solutions

As one of the most senior engineers in the team, you will be the go-to person for any technical issues and decisions internally, and partner with other teams and partners representing the team within a globally distributed org.

• Lead and mentor teams of ML Engineers and Software Engineers in building scalable AI systems that combine state-of-the-art models with robust engineering practices.
• Design, Build, optimize , fine-tune Generative AI/LLM models/AI Solutions that can be integrated with numerous applications, support thousands of tenants, and operate at scale in production to support various PayPal AI Personalization initiatives
• Deploy, monitor , and maintain Machine Learning models and build AI Products in production environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Perform performance evaluations of the LLM models, Implement LLMOps processes to run the end-to-end lifecycle of LLMs
• Demonstrate effective communication skills by clearly articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Facilitate seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams from Business and Technology domains to align project goals, gather requirements, provide technical support, and drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Masters / bachelor s in computer science, Computer engineering, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Information Systems, or related disciplines, with technical expertise in one or more of the above-mentioned areas or equivalent practical experience .
• Strong proficiency in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques, with hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models .
• Design Architect directions on GenAI (Prompt Engineering, Orchestration, LLMs tuning)
• Strong background in deep learning techniques, particularly in NLP and Vision
• Expertise in applying LLMs, prompt design, and fine-tuning methods
• Experience developing Gen AI applications/services for sophisticated business use cases and large amounts of unstructured data.
• Expert in multiple Programming/scripting languages, i.e., Python, Java, Scala , SQL , SQL, NoSQL (like HBase, Redis, Aerospike)
• Good understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, complex event Processing, No SQL solutions for creating and managing data integration pipelines for batch and Real Time data needs.
• Proficiency in machine learning libraries/frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch , scikit-learn, etc.
• Expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience in Azure is a plus
• Strong communication , listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and empower team members to achieve their full potential
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technology and industry trends and leverage this knowledge to build enhanced capabilities .
• Expertise in Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Kafka.

Preferred

• Prior experience in Content Understanding, enrichment, entity resolution or knowledge graph
• Strong background in MLOps and experimentation frameworks
• Extensive experience with concurrent, parallel, and distributed computing, including performance tuning and optimization for large-scale applications
