Job Description

As a Principal Accountant at Medtronic, you will be a recognized expert taking accountability for the controllership function, including statutory financials. You'll ensure robust internal controls and compliance with all applicable statutory requirements. This role demands mastery of accounting principles, an ability to manage large, complex projects, and a focus on driving Medtronic's growth through meticulous financial oversight and reporting.

A Day in the Life

You will uphold financial integrity and drive growth by:

  • Applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare internal and external financial reports.
  • Maintaining or overseeing the control of accounts and records in areas such as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income.
  • Compiling and analyzing financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
  • Preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flow statements, and consolidating financial statements and other accounting schedules and reports.
  • Designing, modifying, installing, and/or maintaining accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions.
  • Being responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Managing the month-end close process.
  • May be responsible for technical support and accounting of M&A activities.
  • May oversee technical accounting research for complex business transactions and the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Managing external relationships with bankers, tax consultants, and statutory auditors.
  • Establishing processes and ensuring adherence to various compliance requirements.
  • Identifying areas for simplification and automation within financial processes.
  • Working with various stakeholders to deliver business goals and collaborating with the Senior Leadership team on decision-making processes.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
  • 6/7 years of finance and accounting experience.
  • Controllership experience in business roles within a Multinational Corporation (MNC) is a must.
  • Excellent knowledge of Advanced Excel tools.
  • Knowledge of Power BI.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement accounting literature for business problems.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS preferred.
  • Experience on an ERP system such as SAP / OneStream, including General Ledger, automated entries, and reporting.
  • Experience in the Healthcare / Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
