Job Description
Role Summary
As a Mechanical Integrity Field Engineer specializing in Pressure Systems Integrity (PSI), you will support the full Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) lifecycle at field sites. Your responsibilities include developing inspection scopes, coordinating execution, analyzing results, performing fitness-for-service assessments, and enhancing inspection strategies. By leveraging data analytics and digital tools, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure asset reliability and safety.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges
- Support RBI lifecycle activities: create inspection scopes, coordinate execution, assess anomalies and historical trends, and calibrate risk strategies through RBI ever-greening
- Develop and implement Integrity Management programs: inspection processes, fit-for-purpose assessments, risk-based assessments, and ongoing inspection monitoring
- Perform calculations including Fitness-for-Service (FFS), Remaining Life Assessment (RLA), and Risk Assessment to support IM workflows
- Prepare/update Equipment Strategies and Statements of Inspection Requirements (SOIR) aligned with RBI outputs
- Analyze thickness and corrosion data; optimize and develop inspection plans
- Deliver integrity assurance through FFS, corrosion evaluations, and remaining life studies
- Conduct degradation evaluations for pressure equipment, heat exchangers, piping, fired equipment, flares, and storage tanks
- Monitor key integrity parameters to ensure operational reliability
- Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis for anomalies; identify 'bad actor' equipment and recommend corrective measures
- Leverage data analytics and digital tools to improve work practices and drive transformation
- Manage regional integrity metrics for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency in alignment with site objectives
- Collaborate on RBI ever-greening with cross-disciplinary input (corrosion, chemistry, process)
- Support Anomaly Management and Fabric Maintenance workflows, including deferral and corrective action processes
- Participate in field-level self-verification activities and drive continuous learning
People & Leadership
- Exhibit strong safety leadership in line with bp's safety principles and process safety fundamentals
- Capture and share operational learnings through formal channels to inform improvements
- Implement, measure, and analyze KPIs to drive performance and continuous improvement
- Mentor and support staff development, especially junior engineers and operational teams
What You Will Need to Be Successful
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree (BSc/BEng) in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
Experience (7–10+ years)
- Field experience in PSI engineering within oil & gas, particularly in processing environments
- Proficiency in NDE techniques, inspection coverage, inspection effectiveness, data analysis, and inspection management

- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards (API 510/570/653/579/580; ASME VIII, B31, PCC-2; ANSI, ASNT, PCN)
- Expertise in degradation analysis and corrosion control strategies
- Hands-on field understanding across engineering, maintenance, operations, and reliability disciplines
- Effective leadership, networking, and communication skills with a collaborative mindset
- Highly motivated and self-driven; fluent in English (oral and written)
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with ASME Sections V, IX, III, B31.3/1/4/8, and PCC-2 standards
- NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist, BSI ISO, or NDT certification (ASNT, AWS, CSWIP)
- Experience in full lifecycle RBI implementation, including data aggregation, damage mechanism evaluation, and mitigation planning
- Background in mechanical design, QA/QC, and fabrication of pressure equipment
- Agile working knowledge and familiarity with digital transformation initiatives
You Will Work With
- Regional Integrity Management (IM) Production Teams
