Parent Counsellor
Job Description
The Parent Counsellor serves as the bridge between families and the multidisciplinary therapy team, ensuring every parent feels informed, supported, and empowered throughout their child s developmental journey. The counsellor helps translate assessments into meaningful actions, provides emotional support, and drives parental participation building lasting trust between KLAY and families.
Key Responsibilities
1. Parent Communication & Case Coordination
Serve as the single point of contact for parents once a developmental concern is identified.
Guide families through the assessment, therapy recommendation, and renewal process with clarity and empathy.
Communicate therapy goals, milestones, and progress up in simple, parent- endly language.
Coordinate across therapists, educators, and caregivers to ensure consistent interventions and feedback.
2. Counselling & Emotional Support
Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for parents to help them process emotions, reduce stigma, and remain engaged in the therapy journey.
Provide guidance on home routines and reinforcement strategies aligned with therapy goals.
Facilitate transition counselling for children graduating from therapy to FDP or mainstream schooling.
3. Assessment & Review Participation
Attend multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to each child s Individual Development Plan (IDP).
Support scheduling of assessments, delivery of reports, and follow-ups.
Ensure parent understanding of reports and alignment with the therapy plan.
4. Family Experience & Retention
Own the parent experience index for the centre cluster.
Track and improve conversion rates from assessment therapy renewal.

Maintain absolute confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
5. Awareness & Community Engagement
Conduct or co-host parent workshops, webinars, and awareness campaigns on developmental milestones and intervention benefits.
Represent KLAY at community and school-based awareness events.
Collaborate with kiting and clinical teams to identify and document success stories (with parental consent).
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain detailed, up case files for all assigned families.
Prepare weekly and thali dashboards surmising:
Total counselling sessions conducted
Assessment-to-therapy conversion rate
Therapy renewals and drop-off reasons
Parent feedback and is faction scores
Candi Profile
Education: Master s in Counselling / Clinical Psychology / Child Development / Special Education
Experience: 5-8 years in parent counselling, early intervention, or child development setups
Skills: Excellent communication, empathy, and coordination across clinical and educational teams
Other: Strong documentation and reporting discipline; comfort with data and feedback-driven improvement
