Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented OT Incharge to lead and manage our Operation Theatre (OT) team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the seamless and safe functioning of the OT, overseeing all aspects from staff management and scheduling to equipment readiness and strict protocol adherence. This role requires exceptional leadership, strong clinical knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management:
  • Be responsible for the overall OT routine, equipment, and patient flow.
  • Plan and manage the following day's schedule by checking the booking register, coordinating with surgeons and anesthetists, and ensuring the OT is fully prepared for each specific surgery.
  • Prepare the duty roster and deploy nursing and anesthesia technicians to ensure efficient staffing based on requirements.
  • Coordinate with OT technicians, the biomedical team, and housekeeping staff to maintain a sterile and functional environment.
  • Clinical & Safety Compliance:
  • Review doctors' notes and drug charts, preparing nursing care plans and ensuring effective bedside nursing care.
  • Ensure strict adherence to medication safety and patient safety protocols.
  • Be responsible for narcotic management, including proper storage and usage documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation for completed surgeries is updated and accurate.
  • Be aware of and implement NABH & Nursing Excellence standards.
  • Equipment & Inventory Management:
  • Ensure all equipment is fully functional and conduct random checks of surgical instruments.
  • Manage and maintain the emergency stock of medications and consumables in the OT.
  • Oversee material management and cost control, from indenting and receiving stock to usage documentation, ensuring there is no misuse or wastage.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Ensure the team is competent and capable of handling all assigned tasks and equipment.
  • Be responsible for securing additional resources, equipment, and blood procurement as needed.

Educational Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • A valid State Registration Nursing Council Certificate is mandatory.
