OS administration, Linux administration

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, including CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Debian.
• Manage and monitor system performance, including CPU, memory, disk, and network usage.
• Perform system backups, restore operations, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Implement, configure, and manage various system services, such as SSH, NFS, DNS, HTTP, FTP, and others.
• Ensure system security through the application of security patches, firewalls, SELinux/AppArmor, and monitoring of intrusion detection systems (IDS).
• Perform system health checks and tune systems for optimal performance.
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) or configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Troubleshoot and resolve system, application, and network issues promptly.
• Collaborate with application developers and network engineers to support infrastructure needs.
• Monitor system logs, analyze errors, and escalate unresolved issues to senior engineers when necessary.
• Provide support for server-related software installation, upgrades, and patches.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, and system access controls.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and emergency troubleshooting.
• Assist with cloud-based system management (AWS, Azure, etc.) as needed.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Linux system administration or a similar role.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, etc.).
• Proficiency in managing system services and performing system monitoring using tools like Nagios, Prometheus, or Zabbix.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of system performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, etc.).
• Strong experience in security management, including firewalls, SELinux/AppArmor, and intrusion detection.
