Oracle DBA

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Installation and Configuration:
• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software, patches, and upgrades.
• Implement new database instances, environments, and clusters based on application needs.
• Database Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
• Monitor database performance and optimize for speed, efficiency, and scalability.
• Perform regular health checks and diagnostics to ensure databases are running at peak performance.
• Tune SQL queries, indexing, and schema designs to optimize performance.
• Backup and Recovery:
• Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability.
• Regularly perform database backups and ensure they are stored securely.
• Test and validate backup/recovery processes to ensure data integrity in case of failure.
• Security Management:
• Implement and manage database security policies to protect sensitive data.
• Configure user access control, roles, and privileges to ensure compliance with security policies.
• Monitor and audit database activity for potential security breaches and performance issues.
• Database Maintenance:
• Apply patches, updates, and fixes to Oracle databases to maintain system reliability.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as data migration, cloning, and archiving.
• Manage data storage, partitioning, and schema changes as necessary.
• Troubleshooting and Incident Management:
• Investigate and resolve database-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Provide incident management support, including root cause analysis and resolution.
• Database Upgrades and Migrations:
• Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Ensure smooth transitions during upgrades and migrations while maintaining data integrity.
• Disaster Recovery Planning:
• Develop, test, and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
• Ensure high availability and failover capabilities are in place and working as expected.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain comprehensive documentation on database configurations, processes, and policies.
• Provide reports on database health, usage, and performance metrics.
• Collaboration and Support:
• Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and network teams for seamless integration of databases into applications.
• Provide on-call support for emergency incidents and database-related issues.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in an enterprise environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Extensive experience with Oracle Database (versions 10g, 11g, 12c, 18c, 19c).
• Proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting.
• Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, and Oracle GoldenGate.
• Familiarity with Oracle Exadata and other enterprise-level Oracle technologies is a plus.
• Experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and management.
• Strong understanding of backup and recovery methodologies using RMAN and other tools.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting.
• Experience in database tuning for performance optimization.
• Knowledge of Oracle security practices, including user authentication, encryption, and auditing.
