Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of one or more operating theatres.
- Prepare and manage OT schedules in coordination with surgeons and anesthetists.
- Ensure surgical procedures are conducted efficiently and without delays.
- Maintain readiness of OT rooms for all surgical activities including emergencies.
Team Leadership & Staffing
- Supervise OT nursing staff, technicians, and support personnel.
- Organize staff rotations, duty rosters, and leaves to ensure adequate coverage.
- Facilitate training and continuing education for OT staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback and mentorship.
Clinical & Quality Assurance
- Monitor compliance with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Conduct regular audits of OT processes and infection control standards.
- Handle any OT-related incidents or clinical issues in a timely manner.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Oversee inventory management of surgical instruments, consumables, and medications.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering and restocking.
- Ensure maintenance and calibration of OT equipment.
Communication & Coordination
- Act as a liaison between OT staff, surgeons, anesthetists, nursing administration, and other departments.
- Attend management meetings and participate in policy development.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of surgical procedures, staff activities, and any adverse events.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- B.Sc. Nursing / GNM / Diploma in OT Technology (Postgraduate qualifications preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in OT, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, and OT protocols.
Desirable:
- Certification in OT Management or Hospital Administration.
- Experience with NABH/JCI accreditation processes.
