Nursing Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment & Planning:
• Perform individualized assessments to determine the immediate needs of critical care patients.
• Establish ongoing assessments to monitor patient conditions and make necessary treatment changes based on hospital policy, procedure, and protocol.
• Utilize assessment findings to guide the plan of action for patient care.
• Treatment & Medication Administration:
• Follow doctor or head nurse instructions to perform treatments and therapies.
• Administer all necessary medication to patients.
• Follow hospital protocols and administer life-saving techniques in cases of cardiac arrest or other conditions requiring resuscitation.
• Rapid Response & Decision-Making:
• Make quick decisions to effectively treat patients when their condition changes rapidly.
• Communication & Collaboration:
• Educate the patient and their family on what to expect following SICU treatment.
• Inform the relief nurse of all patient care information during shift changes.
• Act as an assistant to the doctor or head nurse during special procedures.
• Play an active role in team conferences.
• Documentation & Record Keeping:
• Document assessments, drug therapy, physical therapy, and other treatments given.
• Keep all patient clinical records with doctor orders confidentially secure.
• Professional Conduct:
• Maintain a non-discriminatory and non-judgmental approach when dealing with patients.
• Team Leadership & Development (if applicable):
• Serve as a team leader on the nursing staff, reporting directly to the head or charge nurse.
• Direct and develop the skills and abilities of the staff under your supervision.
• Responsible for giving team assignments as directed by the head nurse.
• Training & Development:
• Participate in in-service trainings.
• Initiate CPR and codes classes when needed
