Job Description
- Key Responsibilities:
- NetApp Storage Management:
- Configure, deploy, and maintain NetApp storage solutions (e.g., ONTAP, AFF, FAS).
- Manage storage provisioning tasks, including LUNs, aggregates, volumes, and snapshots.
- Administer and troubleshoot NetApp ONTAP operating system, including both hardware and software components.
- Monitor and optimize storage performance, ensuring high availability and efficient resource utilization.
- Perform regular system health checks and maintenance on NetApp storage devices and systems.
- Manage and configure data replication and backup solutions using SnapMirror, SnapVault, and other NetApp data protection technologies.
- Capacity Planning & Performance Tuning:
- Analyze storage utilization and capacity planning, ensuring the availability of adequate storage resources.
- Optimize storage performance and efficiency, applying best practices for NetApp storage systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks and capacity issues.
- Perform storage scaling and implement strategies for horizontal scaling and vertical scaling as required.
- Data Protection & Disaster Recovery:
- Design, implement, and test disaster recovery (DR) solutions for data protection, utilizing NetApp SnapMirror and SnapVault technologies.
- Implement and maintain backup strategies using NetApp Snapshot and ensure data is securely backed up and recoverable.
- Plan and execute data migration and restoration tasks.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA) through proper storage and backup configurations.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or other relevant languages to streamline storage provisioning, monitoring, and backup tasks.
- Work on API integrations and develop scripts to automate NetApp storage management and related tasks.
- Leverage tools like Ansible or Chef for automating storage management tasks.
- Security & Compliance:
- Apply security best practices for storage configurations, including encryption, access control, and audit logging.
- Ensure storage systems adhere to security standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
- Manage user access and role-based access controls for storage systems.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with network and server teams to ensure seamless integration of storage systems with other IT infrastructure components.
- Provide on-call support for troubleshooting storage issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Assist in storage capacity forecasting and budgeting for storage-related hardware/software needs.
- Provide technical support for storage-related inquiries from other teams (e.g., DevOps, applications, business units).
- Documentation:
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of storage architectures, configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Document and report incident management for storage-related incidents and their resolutions.
- Create and maintain detailed runbooks and knowledge base articles for troubleshooting and optimizing NetApp storage solutions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date with the latest NetApp technologies and industry trends in storage management and optimization.
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing storage management practices, tools, and processes.
- Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new storage technologies and tools.
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in managing NetApp storage platforms (e.g., NetApp ONTAP, AFF, FAS).
- In-depth experience with NetApp storage protocols (NFS, SMB, iSCSI, FCP, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of data protection technologies such as SnapMirror, SnapVault, NetApp MetroCluster, and data replication.
- Experience with storage provisioning, capacity planning, and performance tuning in NetApp environments.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting with tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery procedures and disaster recovery best practices in a storage environment.
- Knowledge of storage security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with cloud storage solutions and integrating on-prem storage with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure).
