Job Description
- Database Administration: Manage and support MS SQL Server environments, including setup, provisioning, and troubleshooting of production systems, especially in Always-On environments.
- SQL Always-On Support: Understand and manage SQL Always-On configurations, resolving issues related to disk capacity, security, performance, and system errors.
- Backup & Recovery: Handle backup configuration and management using tools like Commvault, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- System Support Activities: Provide support for SQL script execution, Windows upgrades, patching activities, and link server setup, configuration, and maintenance.
- Project Support: Assist in ongoing projects including database configuration clean-up activities and coordination with vendors (e.g., Microsoft) for unresolved issues.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor systems, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot production issues including escalations.
- Incident Management: Handle production incidents with root cause analysis (RCA) and provide short-term and long-term fixes.
- Documentation: Produce high-quality documentation for BAU support, processes, and troubleshooting activities.
- 24x7 Support: Be available for on-call support to handle critical production issues and escalations.
- Process & Compliance: Follow ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management while ensuring system stability.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide proactive suggestions and workarounds to improve system performance and reliability.
