MSSQL Consultants

AMK Group is seeking highly experienced and proactive MSSQL Consultants / SQL Server DBAs to join our team. This role is for a seasoned database administrator with deep expertise in MS SQL Server, particularly in Always-On environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our production databases, providing 24x7 support, and contributing to ongoing projects and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• SQL Server Always-On Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of how SQL Always-On works, with the ability to identify and resolve ongoing issues related to:
• Disk Space/Capacity management
• Security, performance, and related errors
• Backup configuration, specifically within Commvault.
• Production Support (24x7 Standby): Be willing to stand by 24x7 to handle all issues, including critical production escalations. Prepare all necessary troubleshooting steps, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and propose both long-term and short-term fixes for production issues.
• Ad-hoc Support & Maintenance:Provide standby/support for SQL Script execution.
• Provide standby/support during Windows Upgrade/Windows Patching.
• Perform Link Server setup, configuration, and maintenance.
• Project Support:Support ongoing projects, including internal DB configuration clean-up activities.
• Follow up with Microsoft on pending/unresolved issues.
• Produce high-quality documentation for BAU (Business As Usual) support purposes.
• ITIL & Proactive Management: Be strong in ITIL processes, able to handle stress during escalations, and proactive enough to identify and detect all potential bottlenecks in the current environment.
• Collaboration & Communication: Be a good team player and responsive to management requirements. Provide suggestions and workarounds proactively to resolve any issues.
• New Technologies: Be open to supporting new database technologies, such as MySQL, as required for the latest projects.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience:Must be an experienced DBA with at least 5 years of experience in MS SQL Server setup, provisioning, and troubleshooting production servers.
• Mandatory hands-on experience with MS SQL Server Always-On environment.
• Troubleshooting & RCA: Proven ability to troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement fixes for complex production database issues.
• Database Management: Strong knowledge of SQL Server security, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies (including Commvault).
• Windows & Networking: Familiarity with Windows Server upgrades, patching, and basic network configurations related to SQL Server.
• ITIL: Good and strong understanding of ITIL principles.
• Soft Skills:Ability to handle stress during escalations.
• Proactive in identifying potential bottlenecks.
• Good team player and responsive to management.
• Able to provide suggestions and workarounds to resolve issues.
• New DB Technologies: Openness to learn and support new database technologies, e.g., MySQL.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and stakeholder interaction.
