Job Description
- Key Responsibilities:
- Middleware Installation & Configuration:
- Install and configure middleware technologies including but not limited to WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Oracle Fusion Middleware, IBM MQ, Tibco, etc.
- Configure and manage application servers, web servers, enterprise service buses, and other middleware components.
- Deploy, configure, and monitor enterprise applications across middleware platforms.
- Ensure high availability and scalability of middleware services through proper configurations.
- System Monitoring & Performance Tuning:
- Monitor the performance of middleware platforms, including CPU utilization, memory usage, disk space, and log files to ensure peak performance.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and work on tuning middleware and application server configurations to improve response times and throughput.
- Ensure middleware applications and systems are running optimally with minimal downtime.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve middleware-related issues, including application server crashes, performance issues, and system errors.
- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot integration and deployment issues within middleware platforms.
- Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventive measures to ensure system stability and reliability.
- Security Management:
- Implement and manage security policies and procedures for middleware components to ensure secure communication and data transmission.
- Manage user access and roles within middleware applications, ensuring only authorized users have access.
- Perform regular patching and updates to ensure that the middleware environment is secure from vulnerabilities.
- Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery:
- Establish and manage backup and recovery procedures for middleware environments.
- Ensure that disaster recovery plans are in place, tested, and aligned with business continuity requirements.
- Work with teams to implement business continuity strategies for middleware components.
- Integration Support:
- Support the integration of various applications and systems by configuring the necessary middleware components.
- Ensure middleware integration with databases, enterprise applications, messaging systems, and external services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to data flow and messaging.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document middleware configurations, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and installation processes for future reference.
- Maintain accurate records of configuration changes, system outages, and any issues faced.
- Provide reports on system performance, uptime, and security posture to management and stakeholders.
- Collaboration with Other Teams:
- Work closely with other IT infrastructure teams, including network, database, and storage administrators, to ensure middleware platforms work seamlessly with other enterprise systems.
- Coordinate with development and application support teams to align middleware solutions with software requirements and business needs.
- Patch Management and Upgrades:
- Manage and implement upgrades and patches for middleware systems.
- Test patches and new releases for compatibility with existing systems before deployment.
- Ensure that all middleware systems remain up-to-date and compatible with the latest technologies.
- Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in managing and administering middleware technologies.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with middleware platforms such as WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, Apache Tomcat, Oracle Fusion Middleware, or Tibco.
- Experience with application servers, web servers, and messaging systems (e.g., IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, etc.).
- Understanding of enterprise application integration (EAI), enterprise service bus (ESB), and message-oriented middleware (MOM).
- Knowledge of system monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.
- Familiarity with security practices and user authentication mechanisms for middleware platforms.
- Experience with Linux/Unix systems administration and command-line tools.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SOAP, REST, JMS) and their role in middleware.
- Familiarity with database connectivity and JDBC configurations.
- Experience in handling middleware-related backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Knowledge of cloud-based middleware solutions is a plus (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
