Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Transcription & Documentation
- Transcribe dictated recordings from cardiologists for procedures such as:
- Echocardiograms (2D/3D Echo, Stress Echo)
- ECGs, Holter monitoring reports, TMT reports
- Carotid Doppler, ABI studies, and other non-invasive investigations
- Edit and proofread transcripts for grammar, medical terminology, and formatting accuracy.
2. Report Management
- Prepare final reports in the required format for patient files, EMR (electronic medical records), and consultants' review.
- Ensure timely delivery of transcribed reports to meet patient care and department deadlines.
3. Terminology & Accuracy
- Ensure use of accurate and standardized cardiology-specific terminology.
- Understand common abbreviations and shorthand used in cardiology dictations.
- Flag inconsistencies or unclear dictations for review by medical staff.
4. Coordination & Support
- Work closely with cardiologists, technicians, and clerical staff to streamline report workflows.
- Maintain confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA / data protection guidelines.
- Provide support during audits or record requests by internal or external reviewers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in any stream (preferably life sciences)
- Certification or diploma in medical transcription (preferred)
- Experience:
- Minimum 1–2 years in medical transcription, preferably in cardiology or diagnostic imaging departments
- Experience with speech recognition software is an added advantage
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of cardiology terms, investigations, and non-invasive procedures
- Fast and accurate typing (minimum 50–60 wpm preferred)
- Excellent listening and comprehension of medical dictation
- Strong command of English grammar and medical report formatting
- Familiarity with EMR systems and transcription software
- Attention to detail and confidentiality handling
