Mechanical Engineer - Site Projects - TSI

Technical Expertise in Static Equipment & Piping

• Provide mechanical and piping engineering expertise to support bp Production & Operations (P&O) Site Projects Teams
• Deliver technical oversight and guidance across front-end loading (FEL) and detailed engineering phases
• Prepare and review equipment requisitions, datasheets, technical bid evaluations, and specifications
• Evaluate and approve deviations from engineering practices or standards
• Support contract performance management through schedule monitoring and contractor engagement
• Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance of static equipment and piping design with bp Engineering Practices
• Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment processes (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA)

Vendor and Quality Engagement

• Review vendor Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
• Ensure learning and best practices are recorded and shared

Risk Management & Assurance

• Identify engineering risks and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and implemented
• Provide expertise for Management of Change (MoC) processes
• Support safety and operational integrity through design decisions

Collaboration & Cross-functional Work

• Collaborate closely with engineering contractors, bp discipline engineers, operations teams, and the Site Projects Engineering Manager
• Promote consistent application of engineering standards across teams
• Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders across functions

What you will need to be successful

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Preferred: Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer

Experience

• 8–12 years of total experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, or chemical industries
• Minimum 5 years in capital project engineering
• Strong preference for experience in brownfield projects

Must-have Skills & Knowledge

• Expertise in mechanical engineering design, maintenance, and troubleshooting in oil and gas processing
• Experience with FEL-3 and detailed engineering project phases
• Working knowledge of piping design and pipe stress calculations
• Specification, selection, and installation of static equipment
• Familiarity with engineering codes and standards such as API, ASME, EN, PED, RToD, IEC, ISA, ATEX, IEEE, BS
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
