Material handler in store or warehouse is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and inventory management of materials and products, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods, while maintaining accurate records and operating material handling equipment.

Role & responsibilities

1. Receiving and Inspecting Incoming Materials: Verifies the accuracy of shipments against purchase orders, checking for damage or discrepancies, and ensuring materials are in good condition.
2. Storing Materials: Placing materials in designated storage locations, organizing stock areas, and maintaining a clean and orderly workspace.
3. Picking and Packing Orders: Selecting the correct items from stock, placing them securely on trolleys for shipment to the next process.
4. Loading and Unloading Trucks: Using material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
5. Maintaining Inventory Records: Keeping accurate records of stock levels, performing cycle counts, and assisting with inventory control and audits.
6. Operating Material Handling Equipment: Safely operating equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move materials within the warehouse or store.
7. Safety: Adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines and ensuring a safe working environment.
8. Other Duties: Assisting with other tasks as assigned by management, such as cleaning, organizing, or moving materials.
