Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team, responsible for driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of our AWS-based infrastructure and overseeing seamless application deployment to production. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS services, including Terraform, ECS, CloudFront, and RDS, alongside strong expertise in CI/CD automation, Kubernetes, API management tools like Apigee and API Gateway, and security integration via Okta.

As a Lead Engineer, you will work closely with the development, operations, and security teams to automate, monitor, and optimize our infrastructure and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and scaling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in a multi-environment (development, testing, staging, production) setup.
  • Architect API management solutions using Apigee API Proxy and AWS API Gateway, ensuring security and scalability across the enterprise.
  • Implement, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, integrating automated testing, code quality checks, and container orchestration.
  • Lead the CI/CD automation process using GitLab, integrating automated testing, security, and performance checks.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams, including development, operations, security, and testing teams, to ensure successful and timely production deployments.
  • Experience implementing and managing monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Create and manage capabilities and epics in Jira, tracking the development process and ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Design and implement monitoring and logging solutions using CloudWatch, Dynatrace, and Splunk to ensure real-time visibility into system performance, security, and availability.
  • Migrate on-premise applications to AWS, ensuring minimal downtime, optimal performance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Drive performance testing and API testing efforts using tools like Postman, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring smooth application performance.
  • Utilize Akamai for content delivery optimization, ensuring low-latency, high-availability application access across global user bases.
  • Lead efforts for application modernization, refactoring legacy applications for cloud-native deployments with modern microservices architectures.
  • Ensure application security integration using Okta for identity and access management, ensuring robust authentication and authorization practices.
  • Establish best practices for cloud security and compliance, ensuring encryption, IAM policies, and network security groups are properly configured.
  • Coordinate defect fixes during pilot/dark deployments, collaborating with teams to resolve issues before final production cutover.
  • Create and manage disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure high availability and business continuity in cloud environments.
  • Oversee test automation and performance testing using both custom scripts and tools, ensuring the stability of the applications pre- and post-deployment.
  • Leverage Linux expertise, Python, and shell scripting for automation, monitoring, and optimization of system processes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and apply vulnerability fixes to maintain a secure infrastructure.

Preferred:

  • AWS Certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or ECS/EKS for container orchestration and management.
  • Knowledge of serverless computing using AWS Lambda and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with database management (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB).
  • Familiarity with other CI/CD tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with experience mentoring and guiding a team of DevOps engineers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams and ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
