Lab Technician

About the Role

As a Laboratory Technician – Product Development, you will play a vital role in supporting the creation and improvement of innovative lubricant products at Castrol. This position involves working hands-on in laboratory settings, preparing and testing formulations, maintaining lab equipment, ensuring compliance with HSSEQ standards, and providing essential support to the Technology and R&D teams. Your work directly contributes to Castrol's innovation pipeline and its ongoing leadership in the lubricants industry.

What You Will Deliver

• Blend and test new product formulations and raw materials in laboratory settings to support development and modification projects.
• Coordinate and conduct analytical testing as required, and report findings to internal stakeholders in BP/Castrol.
• Assist in small-scale R&D or technical support projects as part of cross-functional collaboration.
• Process and manage shipping requests for lab samples while ensuring full compliance with HSSEQ requirements.
• Manage laboratory raw material inventory, maintain quality control over supplies, and ensure traceability.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and coordinate repair schedules with vendors or technicians as needed.
• Conduct minor equipment repairs independently where qualified, ensuring safe and effective operations.
• Support risk assessment reviews and safety documentation related to lab equipment usage and procedures.

Experience and Qualifications

• Completed chemical or laboratory-related education (e.g., diploma or degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar).
• Practical lab experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong procedural understanding and hands-on craftsmanship in a lab environment desirable.
• Working knowledge of HSSEQ compliance and safety standards in a laboratory setting.
