Lab Technician

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sample Collection & Processing

• Collect blood, urine, stool, and other specimens from patients following proper hygiene and safety protocols.
• Label, register, and process samples for various diagnostic tests.
• Centrifuge, separate, or store specimens as per testing requirements.

2. Diagnostic Testing

• Perform routine and specialized tests in areas such as:
• Hematology
• Biochemistry
• Microbiology
• Serology
• Histopathology
• Operate lab instruments like hematology analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, and spectrophotometers.
• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control protocols.

3. Equipment Maintenance & Safety

• Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and machines.
• Follow biohazard disposal and infection control guidelines strictly.
• Ensure the lab environment meets safety and cleanliness standards.

4. Recordkeeping & Reporting

• Accurately enter test results in manual registers or LIS (Laboratory Information System).
• Prepare reports and ensure timely delivery to physicians or patients.
• Maintain proper documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance.

5. Inventory & Supply Management

• Monitor stock levels of reagents, chemicals, and consumables.
• Assist in ordering and inventory tracking to avoid shortages.
• Ensure reagents are stored and used within expiry limits.
