Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and promising Junior Consultant to join our team, specializing in Pediatrics & Neonatology. This role is designed for a clinician who is eager to take on a broad range of responsibilities across multiple departments, including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), post-natal ward, and outpatient services. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, adept at both independent work and collaborative efforts under the guidance of senior consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- NICU:
- Provide comprehensive care for all neonates admitted to the NICU.
- Actively participate in daily rounds and diligently follow the established treatment plan.
- Prepare and ensure clear Admission and Discharge summaries are completed with meticulous documentation.
- Perform various medical procedures in the NICU, either under supervision or independently as per competency.
- Deliveries:
- Attend all in-house deliveries under the supervision of the rostered consultant.
- Manage the admission of all newborns for brief supervision and observation.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Post-Natal Ward:
- Review and follow the treatment plans for all high-risk babies.
- Conduct baby examinations and maintain thorough documentation.
- Administer vaccines and participate in newborn screening programs.
- Perform discharge examinations, complete documentation, and discuss follow-up plans with consultants.
- Out of Hours:
- Discuss and follow treatment plans with the consultant on call.
- Respond to all outpatient calls and emergencies as required.
- Inpatient Paediatric Admission:
- Manage the examination, prescription, and overall care for all paediatric inpatient admissions after discussing with the Incharge Consultant.
- Maintain documentation of daily patient progress and discharge summaries.
- Perform procedures, including IV cannulation, as needed.
Educational Qualifications
- A medical degree (MBBS) and a postgraduate qualification (MD/DNB) in Paediatrics.
- A valid medical license to practice.
Required Skills
- Clinical Acumen: Strong knowledge of paediatric and neonatal care.
- Procedural Skills: Competence in performing medical procedures relevant to the role, including IV cannulation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with consultants, staff, and parents.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation, patient records, and treatment plans.
- Teamwork & Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and adapt to a dynamic schedule, including out-of-hours duties.
- Decision-Making: Capability to make informed decisions under supervision and in emergency situations.
