IT Technologist - SAP ABAP

As an IT Technologist - SAP ABAP at Medtronic, you will be a key contributor to designing and implementing robust technology solutions within our SAP landscape. You'll leverage your strong expertise in SAP ABAP development, particularly within S/4HANA, to translate business requirements into technical designs, develop custom solutions, and ensure seamless system functionality and performance. Your work will directly support Medtronic's mission to champion healthcare access and innovation by optimizing our critical enterprise systems.

A Day in the Life

You will drive SAP ABAP development and system optimization by:

• Developing, documenting, and configuring systems specifications that conform to defined architecture standards and address business requirements and processes.
• Being involved in planning system and development deployment, ensuring hardware and software compliance and security standards are met.
• Evaluating interfaces between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of the overall system.
• Establishing and documenting system design, parameters, and formats, ensuring hardware and software systems functionality, performance, and compatibility.
• Coordinating and/or modifying system parameters in terms of configurations, such as existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities.
• Actively identifying system functionality or performance deficiencies, executing changes to existing systems, and testing system functionality to correct deficiencies and maintain effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.
• Potentially documenting testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
• Acting as a liaison with key technology vendor technologists or other business functions.
• Strategically designing technology solutions that meet the needs and goals of the company and its customers/users.
• Leveraging platform process expertise to assess if existing standard platform functionality will solve a business problem or if a customization solution is required.
• Gathering and prioritizing integration requirements.
• Testing the quality of a product and its ability to perform a task or solve problems.
• Performing basic maintenance and performance optimization procedures in each of the primary operating systems.
• Utilizing computational thinking to define technological solutions to real-life problems.
• Designing technology that allows for optimal user experience and broad accessibility.
• Documenting detailed technical system specifications based on business system requirements.
• Independently handling the end-to-end lifecycle of development objects in both Greenfield & Brownfield SAP S/4HANA Implementation projects.
• Understanding various business requirements, translating them into technical designs, development, unit testing, and supporting documentation, while collaborating with functional, integration, and business stakeholders.
• Analyzing and troubleshooting complex issues related to SAP ECC, S/4HANA ABAP, Fiori, and BTP applications.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• 5+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree.
• Strong experience in independently handling the end-to-end lifecycle of development objects in Greenfield & Brownfield SAP S/4HANA Implementation projects.
• Strong experience in S/4HANA Implementations/Conversions, HANA Architecture, CDS Views & Annotations, AMDPs, Custom Code Remediation, and working on Eclipse ADT.
• Knowledge of handling custom code utilization and ability to transform custom code from ECC to S/4HANA.
• Good understanding in SAP UI5 Framework, Fiori, Fiori Elements, and Fiori Dashboards.
• Extensive working knowledge in OData, Gateway services, and troubleshooting using standard debugging tools/processes.
• Must adhere to SAP ABAP NW 7.5 syntax & coding standards, and be proficient with performing various ATC Variants.
• Experience in Web Services, BRF+, and AIF frameworks.
• Experience in Reports (SALV), Interfaces (ALE-Idocs & Proxies), Conversions, Enhancements (Exits, BADIs and BTEs), Forms (Smart Forms and Adobe Forms), and Workflow.
• Working knowledge in OOPS and Class Builder.
• Experience in Upgrades (SPAU & SPDD), Regression Testing & Performance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong understanding of financial processes, including a working knowledge of accounting principles and processes.

• Good to know Bitbucket.
• Good knowledge in Security and Authorization Objects.
• Possess a deep understanding of SAP integration methodologies and principles.
• SAP Certifications in ABAP and related technologies.
• Good understanding of SAP and Non-SAP integrations and ability to work with technology vendors/providers.
• Development experience in BTP (Business Technology Platform) architecture and its services, Side-by-side extensions (CAP), Restful Application Programming (RAP), SAP Cloud Foundry, and tools experience in SAP BAS, and GitHub.
• Good understanding of SAP SD/MM/FI/CO modules and ability to navigate well through these process areas for technical requirements gathering or testing activities.
