Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Infection Control Nurse to be a central part of our quality and safety team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the hospital's infection control program, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both patients and staff. This role requires strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to monitoring, and a commitment to educating healthcare professionals on best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Implementation & Surveillance:
- Be responsible for the full implementation of the Hospital's Infection Control (IC) program.
- Conduct IC surveillance activities in all critical areas of the hospital, including Operation Theatres (OTs), Intensive Care Units (ICUs), nursing wards, the Outpatient Department (OPD), Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), and other relevant areas as per schedule.
- Compile and analyze hospital infection data on a daily basis, escalating outliers and following up to ensure compliance.
- Monitoring & Auditing:
- Periodically monitor the use of disinfectants and regularly observe Infection Control Practices across the hospital.
- Conduct monthly audits to ensure strict IC compliance.
- Monitor patient safety related to Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) and medication safety, specifically regarding surgical prophylaxis.
- Supervise the timely validation of HEPA-filters.
- Oversee the practice of Hand Hygiene, Bio-medical waste management, and HAI care bundles.
- Training & Education:
- Conduct regular training sessions on IC protocols for all healthcare professionals.
- Be responsible for all employee vaccinations against infectious diseases.
- Coordination & Compliance:
- Coordinate and monitor the results of water, air, and swab cultures, ensuring timely action on positive reports.
- Be aware of and implement NABH & Nursing Excellence (NE) standards.
- Coordinate with the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) and monitor the functions of CSSD technicians.
- Additional Duties:
- Track and monitor patients with intravascular catheters, urinary catheters, surgical wounds, and ET tubes.
- Visit the bio-medical waste agency and external laundry facility every six months.
- Undertake other projects as assigned by the Infection Control Officer or Head of the Department.
Educational Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A valid State Nursing Council Certificate is mandatory.

- Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to compile, analyze, and interpret infection data to identify trends and risks.
