Functional Consultant - Finance Master Data

Key Roles and Responsibilities1. Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Engagement

• Engage in Data Quality framework and implementation discussions with business and technical teams.
• Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams to gather process requirements and ensure accurate ERP data mapping.
• Provide detailed business requirements to BODS / LSMW teams for data loads and transformations.
• Configure and support finance-related master data in SAP FI/CO, Oracle Financials, or Workday.
• Design finance master data hierarchies for management reporting, segment reporting, intercompany accounting, and consolidation.
• Monitor exceptions for data quality rules and enhance logic where needed.
• Ensure stakeholder sign-offs are captured at critical project milestones.

2. Data Quality Rules & Standards Definition

• Define, document, and enforce data quality rules based on business, compliance, and functional requirements.
• Derive technical logic from business rules to enable development in DQ tools.
• Support the development and testing of rules within the data quality toolset.
• Review rule outputs and communicate validation results to business users.

3. Data Profiling, Cleansing & Monitoring

• Create and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor finance master data quality.
• Analyze data profiling results and identify opportunities for cleansing.
• Support the execution of the Data Quality Framework.
• Conduct root cause analysis and recommend system or process improvements.
• Perform pre-load and post-load validations as part of data cleansing exercises.

4. Finance Master Data Lifecycle Management

• Serve as the data steward for key finance master data elements:
• Chart of Accounts (GL Accounts)
• Cost Centers / Profit Centers / Internal Orders
• Company Codes / Business Units / Legal Entities
• Fixed Assets Master Data
• Manage full lifecycle of records including creation, extension, modification, blocking/deletion, and reviews.
• Ensure data requests meet standards and comply with financial controls and audit requirements.

5. ERP Projects & Data Migrations

• Lead or support finance master data workstreams in ERP implementations, upgrades, or cloud transitions.
• Define functional specs for migration and participate in mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation, and UAT.
• Execute data loads using LSMW, BDC, Workday EIBs, or other mass data tools.
• Skills & Experience Required10+ years of experience in SAP Finance Master Data, with deep expertise in FI/CO modules and SAP FI T-codes.
• Strong knowledge of core financial processes (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting).
• ERP Platform experience:
• SAP S/4HANA, ECC FI/CO, MDG
• SAP FC (Bison) , SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
• Workday Financials
• Strong understanding of SOX compliance, audit procedures, and internal controls.
• Hands-on with tools: LSMW , BDC , BODS , Smart Sheets , EIB .
• Proficient in Excel, and familiar with SQL , Power BI , Tableau , SAP IS .
• Skilled in:
• Finance master data lifecycle processes (create/change/delete)
• Data quality rule definition, documentation, and implementation
• Data profiling, cleansing, and standardization
• Pre-load and post-load validations, exception handling, reconciliation
• Functional input and support for BODS logic, mapping, and validations
• Able to use SE16N , SQVI , and custom reports for data analysis.
