Position Summary:

As a Fleet Superintendent, you will be a direct manager for Captains and Chief Engineers, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of a designated number of container vessels. Your primary objective will be to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance of these vessels, in full alignment with company goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Vessel Operations Management: Manage all operational matters relating to the vessels under your responsibility, ensuring smooth and efficient performance.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Oversee planned and unplanned maintenance, repairs, and modifications to the vessels' hull and machineries, ensuring work is completed within approved budgets.
  • Dry Docking & Inspections: Plan and coordinate inspections and dry dockings of vessels, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Compliance & Certification: Ensure all vessel certifications and surveys for class, flag, and international requirements are meticulously maintained and in order.
  • Performance Monitoring: Follow up on vessel performance, identify deviations, and arrange for necessary corrective actions to be carried out.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee financial budgets specifically for vessel maintenance, repairs, stores, and dry dockings.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of all services rendered by shipyards, workshops, and suppliers to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and customer requirements.
  • Technical & Vetting Inspections: Conduct thorough technical and vetting inspections of vessels.
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure safety is consistently regarded as a primary responsibility across all operations under your purview.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage Captains and Chief Engineers assigned to your vessels, focusing on effective team dynamics and ensuring highly skilled personnel onboard.
  • Sea-to-Shore Collaboration: Build on sea-to-shore collaboration and drive engagement among your direct reports, officers, and crews onboard.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Actively suggest innovations, cost savings, and improvements within your area of responsibility.
  • Decarbonization Contribution: Provide operational feedback to improve Maersk's future newbuilding pipeline in terms of safety and efficiency, making an essential contribution to our decarbonization agenda.
  • Reporting: Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management, detailing operational status and key metrics.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Experience:2-3 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent; OR
  • Diverse candidate with sailing experience as a Senior Marine Engineer (minimum qualification).
  • Managerial Skills: Strong managerial abilities with the capability to ensure the development and performance of your employees.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to navigate between diverse stakeholders and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Fluent in both written and spoken English (company language).
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Strong analytical skills and capability to make independent decisions based on experience, knowledge, and available information for unique situations.
  • Drive & Motivation: A self-motivated, structured, and highly driven individual who maintains enthusiasm even in hectic and dynamic environments.
  • Strategic Thinking: Able to see the bigger picture and contribute to broader company goals.
  • Positive Mindset: Overall positive mindset and willingness to go the extra mile to succeed.
