FLE Mines Operations

Job Purpose:

To supervise mining operations and assist in staffing to achieve targeted production and desired quality as per plant requirements. Coordinate with contractors for deployment of machinery to meet production targets. Ensure safety of personnel and machinery while developing the mine according to the mining plan.

Job Context & Major Challenges:

• Maintain quality parameters such as SiO2, Al2O3, and Fe2O3 for effective blending with limestone.
• Deploy machinery based on quality requirements.
• Ensure roadworthiness of contractor vehicles before entering mines with 100% PPE compliance despite ageing fleet.
• Manage transport fleet operations over long lead distances (11+ km) through public roads without compromising production or safety.
• Enforce restrictions on locals and cattle across widespread mining area (320 Ha, 11 pits) and control communication media usage by workmen.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Supporting Actions:

KRA1: System Implementation

• Conduct toolbox talks at every shift start and MCM meetings.
• Participate in Kaizen/Suggestion/OPL activities, motivating staff and workmen for continual improvement.
• Prepare DPR reports, MIS, and SAP notifications (M2 and M4) on each shift.
• Update QCDIP and LCM regularly.

KRA2: Statutory Compliance

• Ensure adherence to HEMM permissions, Safety Management Plan, and Environmental Clearance (EC) conditions.
• Prepare and submit all statutory returns (monthly, quarterly, annual) including contractor returns without deviations.
• Coordinate and ensure compliance for IME/PME of all workmen.

KRA3: Safety

• Guide staff and enforce Mines Safety Standards and procedures.
• Conduct shift rounds to identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
• Participate in department, SAM, GRT meetings, and shop floor rounds.
• Submit Safety Observations (SO), Near Miss reports timely and ensure compliance with safety training.
• Ensure 100% implementation of PCM timely.

KRA4: Quality & Planning

• Execute quality plans in consultation with Geologists.
• Feed materials according to blend plan to meet plant requirements.
• Deploy surface miners and wheel loaders as per quality plans.
• Implement corrective actions for deviations in quality, quantity, and efficiency.

KRA5: Production & Development

• Supervise mining activities per statutory requirements.
• Deploy sufficient manpower and machinery to execute plans.
• Optimize utilization of HEMM and transportation equipment for efficiency.
• Maintain haul roads within the pit floor for smooth operations.
• Supervise Mine Foremen, mining mates, WB employees, and contractor workmen.
• Prepare areas for surface mining by deploying dozers.
