Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Compliance & Regulatory Monitoring:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and national environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS legislation and communicate relevant changes to management and staff.
- Assist in acquiring necessary permits, licenses, and environmental clearances.
2. Safety & Risk Management:
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend preventive measures.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive action plans.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents to authorities as per statutory requirements.
3. Environmental Management:
- Monitor and manage environmental compliance including waste management, air and water pollution control, and hazardous materials handling.
- Support sustainability initiatives and promote eco-friendly practices within the organization.
4. Health & Hygiene Oversight:
- Implement occupational health programs and promote hygiene standards.
- Support health surveillance programs in coordination with medical teams (if applicable).
- Ensure availability and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) as per task requirements.
5. Training & Awareness:
- Plan and conduct EHS training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Develop safety manuals, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Promote a safety culture by encouraging proactive employee engagement and participation in EHS programs.
6. Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for fire, medical, chemical spills, and other potential emergencies.
- Conduct regular emergency drills and evaluate effectiveness.
7. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain all EHS-related documentation, records, and reports as per audit and compliance requirements.
- Prepare and present periodic EHS performance reports to management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in industrial safety or NEBOSH/IOSH (preferred or required depending on location and industry).
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in manufacturing, construction, pharmaceuticals, or heavy industry.
- Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies and EHS audits.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of EHS laws, standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in MS Office and EHS management software.
