Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
- Prepare and review corporate tax returns, including income tax, withholding tax, and other applicable direct taxes, ensuring timely submission in compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of tax filings for the company and its subsidiaries in multiple jurisdictions (if applicable).
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements related to direct taxes, including tax audits, assessments, and filings.
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation to support tax filings and ensure compliance with local tax authorities.
Tax Planning and Advisory:
- Provide tax advisory services to management, including recommendations on tax planning, structuring transactions, and identifying tax-saving opportunities.
- Assist in optimizing the company's tax position through effective tax planning and risk management strategies.
- Analyze the impact of new or amended tax laws and advise on their implications for the company's business operations.
Tax Audits and Disputes:
- Assist in managing tax audits and liaise with tax authorities to resolve any tax-related issues or disputes.
- Prepare supporting documentation and respond to queries raised by tax authorities during audits or assessments.
- Monitor and manage tax risks and identify potential tax disputes, providing support in resolving issues in a timely manner.
Transfer Pricing:
- Assist in transfer pricing documentation and compliance with local and international regulations.
- Ensure that intercompany transactions are in line with applicable transfer pricing rules and document transfer pricing policies accordingly.
Research and Knowledge Development:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in direct tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant with changing legislation.
- Continuously update and improve knowledge on the tax implications of business operations, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate strategies.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Finance, Legal, Accounting) to ensure alignment and proper implementation of tax strategies.
- Collaborate with external advisors (e.g., tax consultants, auditors) on complex tax issues and projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CA, CPA, CTA, or similar) is highly preferred.
Experience:
- Proven experience in direct tax compliance, tax advisory, and tax planning, ideally in a corporate environment or consulting firm.
- Familiarity with local tax laws, international tax regulations, and transfer pricing.
- Experience in handling tax audits and disputes is an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of direct tax regulations, tax compliance processes, and tax planning strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in tax-related software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
