Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed should-cost analysis for various components, including sheet metal, casting, machining, and plastic parts, to support sourcing, design, and cost optimization initiatives
- Build and maintain Virtual Production Environments (VPE) and develop accurate cost models using tools like aPriori or similar platforms
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and procurement teams to evaluate cost drivers and identify cost-saving opportunities early in the product development cycle
- Analyze supplier quotes and manufacturing processes to validate costs and recommend more cost-effective alternatives
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models to estimate manufacturing costs and assess process feasibility
- Benchmark industry costs, technologies, and regional manufacturing practices to ensure competitive pricing
- Support Value Engineering (VE) and Design to Cost (DTC) initiatives by providing cost impact assessments and process improvement recommendations
- Work closely with global sourcing teams to develop target costing strategies and facilitate supplier negotiations
- Develop and maintain costing databases, including labor rates, machine rates, material prices, and process parameters
- Prepare and present cost analysis reports, cost breakdowns, and scenario comparisons to cross-functional stakeholders
- Stay updated on manufacturing trends, cost modeling best practices, and aPriori software enhancements
- Assist in training junior engineers or cross-functional partners on cost estimation methods and tools
