Coolgen Developer

Job Summary:

A Coolgen Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications using IBM's Coolgen (also known as IEF - Integrated Engineering Facility) for automated code generation and enterprise application development. The developer works on creating efficient business applications, primarily for mainframe or distributed environments, by leveraging Coolgen's model-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, customize, and maintain enterprise applications using Coolgen
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical design using Coolgen tools
• Generate and optimize COBOL, DB2, or other code through Coolgen models
• Work on debugging, testing, and performance tuning of Coolgen-generated applications
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and other developers for application delivery
• Participate in upgrades and migration activities related to Coolgen environments
• Document design, code changes, and technical processes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
• Experience working with Coolgen (IBM IEF) for application development
• Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, or relational databases is a plus
• Understanding of mainframe and distributed systems
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile or other software development methodologies
• Familiarity with other IBM development tools or enterprise software platforms
